1. When out at a social event, stand away from the table with the nibbles to avoid mindless eating.  
  2. You do not have to miss out on dining out with friends and family. The key is to have a shake before you go, and order a garden salad with dressing on the side. Do not go on an empty stomach, you may not be able to resist temptation!
  3. Tackle social occasions by planning ahead. For example, if eating out, find out the name of the restaurant and check out the menu beforehand.  
  4. Instead of socialising around food and drink, catch up with friends and family on a walk along the beach, a scenic bush walk or a round of golf.
